SALLY MOON Sally presented the "Nightline" programme for two years that was the 10 til 2 shift in those days. Programme changes saw Sally moved from her middle-of-the-night slot to afternoons between 2 and 5pm.
Sally became a disc jockey for a dare when she was down in bristol- she liked it so much she managed to get a job in her local club. That was followed by D.J. work in clubs in Germany and Denmark, and then it was back to Britain.
At that time no-one wanted to know a girl presenter so Sally fell back on her secretarial training. In a lucky break, she got a secretarial job at BBC Radio Merseyside. But she still couldnt get near a microphone,so she did a spell of promotions work for the BBC. Sally proved to be one of the most popular presenters on Red Rose. |

Sally at Red Rose | ||
Sally was the first presenter to take Red Rose Radio through the night. Normally Sally would close down at 2am and the station would be on air again at 6am with the breakfast show. Events on 23 May 1984 provided the greatest challenge ever to the newsroom and presenters of Red Rose Radio. I speak of course of The Abbeystead disaster. | ||
