John Myers

John Myers

first joined Red Rose Radio six months after the opening in 1982.

John hosted the Saturday edition of "Morning Lancashire" which was described as, "A more relaxed breakfast magazine programme to start the weekend".
On Sunday he hosted "Country Choice" from 2 til 4 then he was back from 11 til 2 with "Music for Romantics".
John left Red Rose in 1984 and went to Radio Tees in Stockton,Cleveland before moving to Border Television in Carlisle. He proved to be one of the most popular presenters on TV in Cumbria, beginning on childrens programmes and moving on to Newsreading and programme narration.
John was also the chairman of the "Cumbria Heart Attack Appeal" which raised £100,000 in just 12 months.

John returned to Red Rose and hosted the breakfast show from the "GOLD" launch on June 1st. We have John to thank for Scottie McClue as well. John apparently discovered Scottie whilst on a tour of a pie factory. Upon meeting the boss of the factory "Scottie" John saw the potential in the man...... Once again Mr. Myers had struck "GOLD"

I will be adding loads more on John Myers and hopefully his old sidekick "Gladys" very soon.
