Jerry Rowlands with "The all Lancashire Nightline"

Jerry hosted the "All Lancashire Nightline" on Red Rose Radio. The show started at 2am and ended at 6. Jerry held crucial debates on the show, like "how many lights are there on the Winter Hill transmitter".... well maybe you had to be there but this was real personality radio at its best. Inclusion of the listener was an integral part of the nightline show it was as though Jerry was a part of our nightshift and we were part of his. Many gangs of night workers would gather round the works phone as one of their number tried to solve the "Radio Hangman" while Jerry no doubt had his finger on the button of the cart player to "hang" the caller should he or she fail. I remember at one time one competition ended in being flushed down "The Horror Toilet".
I published on Derek Websters page a small item about him spilling coffee on the Mixer one night.... I have removed that now and apologise to Derek unreservedly. Jerry confesses below. Derek Webster and Jerry still keep in touch to this day despite Jerry once describing Derek in a supermarket as "looking like lurch with a shopping trolley". It`s funny what you remember when you look back!

What is Jerry up to now..... pop back soon to find out.

Here is what Jerry remembers of those times:

It's great to hear that you remember me and 'All Lancashire Nightline Show' Derek Webster and I often reminisce about 'Radio Hangman' .... 'The Higgledy -Piggledy Quiz' ....' Instrumentally Yours' ... Peter Mc Grenory the poet......etc etc... I also remember reading my home phone number out instead of the dedication line number. I didn't know 'til I got home, and there were 35 messages on my answer machine from delighted anoraks who now had my private number ! By the way .... the coffee spilt on the mixer was me ! George the engineer had to cycle in 10 miles at 4am to fix it. I had to keep buying him pint's of bitter until he decided to forget..... six months later !! Happy Days

Derek Webster did the week day Nightline and Jerry the weekend, together they had night time radio stitched up between them, nothing could compete with them at all. Both always had time for a chat with the listener on and off air.

I don`t remember Jerry having a Red Rose pic , I do remember him saying he was bald??? or is this a false memory??
